Ceramic tiles are perfect for installation in kitchens. In general, these tiles have low porosity in comparison to other materials such as natural stone, timber and concrete. Therefore, they will not absorb moisture and stain, and they are highly resistant to microbial growths. Dab Polish in Small Chips 

Small chips on the kitchen floor can be troublesome. These holes could allow the accumulation of dirt and moisture, and they might create an opportunity for harmful bacterial growths. Also, if a chip is ignored, it will expand into a hole or crack. Fortunately, you can seal the damage using nail polish. Ideally, you should find a polish which matches your tile and dab it over the spot until the chip is filled. You can remove the polish with acetone in the future and redo the fix if necessary.

Pack Large Holes with Filler

Larger holes in the tiling cannot be handled with nail polish. The fix will be ineffective for long-term purposes, and the cost would be too high. Therefore, if you notice this form of damage on your kitchen flooring, you should pack the area with ceramic filler. This process is effective and will ensure the stability of the surface. When shopping for your filler, you should make sure that the colours will blend. Otherwise, the patch will be too conspicuous. After the filler dries, you should sand the area gently until it becomes smooth. Then, apply a coat of lacquer for moisture protection.

Seal Cracks with Caulk

Cracks in ceramic tiling are thin and continuous. Therefore, it is difficult to pack the fissures with a filler product.  If this is the case in your kitchen, you should look for suitable silicon-based caulking from your local stores. This type of material can be applied with relative ease into narrow cracks. Also, the material is quite flexible; it will not cause the further expansion of the fissure. If the caulk line is prominent after drying, you should paint the tile to restore appeal.

Finally, if your kitchen floor has broken tiles, you should plan for removal and replacement with similar products.
